Uncertainty and the Response of Disappearances
On October 8,
in the Sense Ficció program of Tv3, directed by Montserrat Besses and Pere
López, the documentary Temps d’espera of own production on missing persons was
aired. In which our CEO Jose María Oliver is part representing Detectives
Oliver, to contextualize our work concretely in one of the strangest cases of
disappearance, which occurred more than 30 years ago, we did not stop searching
for the missing Pires ritrrit brothers in the Hospital from Manresa.
“Disappear without apparent cause. A tragedy for the family, an emotional shock with indelible consequences. An unknown reality despite the fact that in Catalonia an average of 370 disappearances are reported each month. 2018 closed with 4,447 complaints to the Mossos d'Escuadra for these reasons. Some disappearances last a few hours; another few months; and others last forever.”

The Pinocchio in vacation time
With the summer holidays a step away, many Spaniards already have everything planned. Whether to escape routine, relax or meet a new destination, everyone takes advantage of this time of year to leave work for a few days or weeks. However, when discussing their summer plans, not all people tell the truth. Among Spaniards, for example, 3 in 10 lie about the subject (34%).
Jetcost, a web site that allows users to compare rates and availability of flights, hotels and car rentals, has decided to conduct a study about the experiences of Europeans during their vacations. Three thousand people from 6 different nationalities (British, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, German and French) participated in the survey. And the results are without a doubt ... interesting!
When asked if they had exaggerated in any aspect of their holidays or even lied about them, 68% of participants answered yes. The most mentioned lies were:
Relatively to the destination, the shame of saying his real destiny (35%); want to impress someone (32%); not having gone anywhere (15%) and wanting to be equal to the others (12%) were the main reasons for not telling the truth. The people who are most lied to, are the co-workers (33%), those who suffered the most with this "summer pinecone" effect, following the friends (27%) and ending with the relatives in 12% of the cases.
In addition, approximately 75% admitted having told family and/or friends that they had enjoyed the holidays more than they really had, having confirmed, in 55% of the cases they would never tell anyone that the holidays had really been a failure and a disappointment.
And as if it were not bad enough to lie about certain aspects of their holidays, some go further, giving wings to the imagination and posting false photos on social media in about 10% of cases.
Finally, when analyzing the results of the different countries at European level, we confirm that (unfortunately) Spaniards are the ones who most feel the need to lie about some aspect of their holidays.

If Jetcost were a detective agency, it would certainly have asked if at the time of travel people also lie about who is accompanying them and possibly discover many cases of infidelity. Your right on baggage
We are in the middle of summer in which millions of people will take their flight to go on vacation, do you know your rights on your luggage? Now we tell you.
Definitely when we fly, we may have an incident that could damage our trip either to or from the trip, and more and more airlines are changing their policies regarding baggage limitations, however airlines must comply with A series of legal measures established by the European Parliament in the Passenger Rights Regulation (EC) 261/2014, we often do not know what they are and do not know how to proceed.

OTHER RECOMMENDATIONS TO PROBLEMS WITH LUGGAGE:

• Baggage delay If the final destination is reached and the suitcase does not appear, the passenger is entitled to reimbursement of expenses that this inconvenience may have caused during the holidays,
• Theft in your luggage: The airline is obliged to respond to lost, lost or damaged luggage, but not to theft that occurs in the suitcase if it arrives at its destination in perfect condition. Therefore, in these circumstances, even if you make a claim to the company, you will not be entitled to compensation, and the correct way to act will be to go to the airport police station as a victim of a theft to file the corresponding complaint. The limit of liability is about 1,400 euros per passenger unless special declaration of value prior to the check-in of luggage after paying an additional fee.
THE DEADLINES FOR CLAIM ARE THE FOLLOWING:
• For damage to luggage: up to 7 days from the date of receipt of luggage.
• Due to late luggage: up to 21 days from the date it should have been received.
• For lost luggage: no limit. You must first make the claim for late luggage, and if after 21 days you have not received it you can make the claim at any time. Summer infidelities: We know you were unfaithful last summer

The origin of the first detective investigations in Barcelona.
Oliver Private Detectives is a brand of research and security services, officially registered since 1981. It is not the oldest in the city of Barcelona but has been influenced by the first ones, the companies that have made known the work of a private detective.
Due to the high importance and contribution of these pioneering companies to what is now a recognized profession beyond borders, we will dedicate the next weeks to its main founders in our city.
To start this journey of detectives we have chosen Enrique Cazeneuve Cortés. For many, he is the founder of the first private detective agency in Spain, located at 6 Calle Balmes in Barcelona, right next to our company address.
In the early twentieth century, Cazeneuve, who was born in Toulouse, and was living in Barcelona, was in the year 1910, responsible for installing the first office of private detectives. Author of the book "El detectivismo práctico" and innovative detective has undoubtedly left his legacy and his brand not only in Barcelona but throughout Spain.
Detective by profession, Enrique Cazeneuve is the first to be enrolled in the private detectives and investigators' school in Catalonia. His first investigations directly related to "detective" cases were based on robbery of patents, thefts in factories or infidelities, where husbands wanted to know if their women were unfaithful.
However, Cazeneuve was not a lone wolf in this profession, he liked teamwork. In addition to having selected a magnificent team of young professionals to accompany him in his work, transmitting the techniques necessary to carry out this profession, in the 20s he decided to create a detective academy to train future professionals.
However, his contribution does not end here, for him the dissemination of the role of detective in society was equally important and as such spread the profession in the media of the time, participating in radio programs through a series of talks that had a great approval from the spectators.

There was once a story of disenchanting
Living with the misfortune of the disappearance of someone close to us is too great a burden to bear. The uncertainty of what has happened, the life put on standby, always waiting for the day when some news will arrive about the person who from nothing has stopped being part of our daily world. It is difficult to live with this pain, it is difficult to learn to smile again and it is completely impossible to forget what happened.
However, incredible as it may seem, there are unusual cases related to disappearances in which people simply decide to disappear and give up the life they had without thinking about its consequences or the pain they can cause to those left behind. One of these cases occurred in the United States, in 1970.
A single mother left home and never returned, leaving her 15-year-old daughter after a family argument. In 1996 buried human remains were discovered and although they failed to do the DNA tests, the police determined that they were those of the missing woman. For 13 years the mystery would be closed case but in 2009, with the use of more advanced techniques of DNA analysis, it was concluded that the remains belonged to another individual. With this outcome, it was decided to reopen the investigations in search of the missing woman. Forty years after his disappearance, the police claim to have found her, with 84 years and a new family (she had had 14 children) although it is not clear what she has done during the last decades or the reasons to disappear suddenly.
In these cases and many more must be clear that not everything is what it seems.

Laugh or cry? How to solve problems that occur when traveling
A 180º lap can happen even on vacations that we thought would be perfect. The truth is that everything can be twisted in a matter of a few minutes, so it is best to be forewarned. An incident during a trip is for many people a real headache, either due to expenses that we did not contemplate, for the loss of luggage or passport, for a hotel much worse than the supposed or even for the loss of the total trip. Actually, at some point, we have all had some kind of complication during our vacation.
And what are the most frequent problems that occur when traveling? Well, we will present 10 incidents that usually happen when traveling and how to try to solve them.
1. Loss of luggage
If you arrive at the airport and your bag has not shown up, go to the airline counter to claim. There they will take note of your contact details and also tend to offer you a bag with some basic things, for example shampoos and creams. To avoid this type of occurrence it is important to label the suitcase well and remove all labels from previous flights. You can also carry a spare change in your carry-on luggage just in case.
2. Overbooking in hotel/flight
If the airline denies us boarding due to overbooking on our flight, it must reimburse us for the ticket, offer financial compensation and alternative transportation. By law, airlines are obliged to reimburse people for flights with excess reserves but do not always assume their obligations in these types of situations. Actually you can also request the transfer to the destination on a different date that suits you better, however it is essential to process all this procedure at the airport itself and be clear about what the airline will do to prove the overbooking.
If this happens with the hotel, and if the change does not convince you, you will have the benefit of an adequate reimbursement for lack of compliance with the contract. But, in the case of hotels it is always easier since they usually inform the client in advance and the relocation is in hotels of the same or even higher class.
3. Questionable taxis
From unexpected detours to irregular or non-existent taximeters, the truth is that tourists who end up losing money are immense. Many are transported to unexpected places or confronted with an astronomical tariff. So before calling a taxi, it is important to have an idea of the route and the time needed to reach the destination, a solution is to check it in Google Maps for example. And it is also essential to verify if the vehicle is equipped with the taximeter and if it works.
4. Wi-Fi
By
accessing an unprotected network, you are leaving your personal and financial
data available to anyone who wishes to seize them. So it is important that you
do not connect to the first network you find, and wait until you find a more
secure one. If you are in a hotel, cafe or restaurant, you must request access
to the establishment's official network and use a VPN connection with
additional security.
5. Loss of passport
If you lose your passport, the first thing to do is to report to the local police and find a consulate in the city you are visiting or in the nearest one. There, they will help you with all the necessary procedures. To avoid this type of problem, it is important to bring an authenticated copy of the passport (sheet where the photo and the name are) and keep the original in the hotel room. 6. Wallet theft

If you do not pay, it is common for that person to keep trying in order to create confusion. That's why it's best not to accept gifts from strangers.
9. Getting sick
Many people usually travel without health insurance, but in case of illness it is always better to have an insurer that can help us with all the necessary procedures to avoid eternal paperwork. You must avoid going on your own to a doctor and call before to know what kind of agreements there are so that everything is paid by the insurance.
10. Need to cancel/interrupt the trip
By way of obtaining cheaper travel it is usual to buy everything in advance, but the longer the advance the greater the possibility of having some type of unforeseen when traveling. The most frequent reasons are related to health problems or labor issues. Intuition in relationships
What is intuition?
At the popular level it is called Sixth Sense.
The RAE provides us with very ad hoc definitions for this occasion:
"The ability to understand things instantaneously without the need for reasoning"
"Intimate and instantaneous perception of an idea or truth that appears as evident to whoever has it"
It is as if inside our gray mass the puzzle disassembled in 1000 pieces, automatically and unconsciously it is assembled with only 999 pieces. We still have to find that fragment that is missing.
Why do we hold back when it comes to believing in our intuitions? In my opinion, we must trust others, more generally we should trust more of this unconscious process that is alarming us about something that does not fit.
Of course our intuitions are not always 100% reliable, because states of mind, emotions, perceptions, prejudices come into play. You always have to check with objective and real proofs that are not the fruits of our paranoia or imagination.
However, we must deepen them if we want to clarify a certain situation because they can give us important clues in the search for the truth.
If we talk about relationships, it is very important to know the basic behavior of the other person in order to identify inconsistencies.
In a relationship for example, we are supposed to know well the other person.
If we do not know the other person well it is because we have been together for a short time and if we already begin to fail of trust something tells us that it is better to leave it at once.
If at a particular moment in our relationship we begin to doubt certain acts, first of all we should ask our sentimental partner for an explanation. This without negative emotions, in fact we should give the person object of our doubts to fit the pieces of the puzzle without judging them at first sight.
Second, if we do not find satisfactory answers or if we stay with that feeling that there is something there that we do not know what it is but does not leave us alone, then we can use the brainstorming method in writing. We could write on a sheet all the thoughts that come to mind, memories of strange things, that do not fit, certain indications, also events that seem to have no importance, which, however, come to mind just as we are writing. In this way, reading our written ideas we move a little away from our subjectivity. We can also pay attention to the changes in our body while we review the information and see how they make us feel. Once this brainstorming process is finished, we must look at everything we have written and compare it with the information that our partner gave us when asking for explanations.
Here we should have a more complete view of the situation that does not fit us.
Now, there are two types of people: those who seek the truth and those who prefer not to go further, rather stay with the doubt and continue trusting their partner. Both are totally respectable.

The truth of the detectives that changes your life
On May 2, J. Oliver and A. Oliver were invited to discuss, in the program de
boca a orella of RNE, Radio 4, about the profession of the private investigator
and his day today. This was because it was the day on which the 20th
anniversary of the creation of the association of private detectives of
Catalonia, the first association at European level and recognized
internationally, was commemorated.
The work of the private detective is often defined as the profession where
the life of other people is investigated, but often without authorization for
it. It could not be a more incorrect definition. The work of the detective has
to be objective, it is regulated and it must be legitimate to investigate the
person the client asks for. You can not investigate if there is no
legitimation.
The function of the detective is to seek the truth, always. There are times
when that truth is not what the client wants or was waiting for, but it is the
one that he receives from the professionals he has hired to reveal his
uncertainties.
Usually, the client contacts these professionals because they have a
suspicion about one of the most diverse possible topics, both at a business and
personal level. It can be a case of infidelity, alimony, false pretense,
illegal rent or, for example, unfair competition. Due to the high number of
possible cases, the day to day of a detective is usually always different,
spending many hours in the street investigating and looking for evidence to
contribute to the clients. Tests that if they are not legally obtained, they are
useless.
Besides the work in the street, the detective looks for the information in
all the means at his disposal. Many times the researchers themselves
"help" in the process because they publish their entire lives on
social networks or on the web. An example of this is the Airbnb boom in the
rental of illicit tourist flats that has increased enormously and where all the
information is usually available to those searching for it online, but
providing proof of that is often not so simple. It is here that the work of the
private investigator enters.
However, it is important to clarify that investigating and spying are
different concepts that many people tend to mix. Spying is an illegal activity
while investigative work by the detective is legal and regulated by law. Not
everyone can investigate and be named a detective, he must be properly
qualified and have a professional license.
Reality always surpasses fiction and there is nothing more rewarding than
being able to discover a truth that has the capacity to change someone's life
for the better, without ever forgetting that ends do not justify the means and
that everything has to be within the border existing legal.

Uncertain identity: the secrets of your origin
"All his life Antonio had the feeling that he was adopted. His affectionate family denied that, but the absence of similarities with the members of his family and the lack of photos related to pregnancy, indicated that his mother might not be the woman who brought him into the world. One day he decided to end doubts by requesting his birth certificate. The truth jumped to light, the dates of birth did not coincide. Antonio was definitely adopted." This could be the beginning of the story of one of the many adoptees that currently exist.
If we start searching online for stories of adopted children in search of birth parents, infinity of things will emerge. Many of them are stories with happy endings, others not so much. However, they all have one thing in common: the desire to know their origins.
In the vast majority of cases, all families that adopt children give them everything they need, however there is a desire stronger than all, to know the whole truth, where they come from. They ask themselves daily what happened, whose fault was it, what was the situation that led to the adoption, as their biological family looks like. There is an immensity of unanswered questions that induces a feeling of deep emptiness.
In the past, adopted children could not search their biological family because unfortunately if they tried to do so they were censored and called "ungrateful" because it was seen as a failure of adoptions. However, times have changed and currently in Spain, the right to know their biological origins is already recognized by law. It is a process that can last for months or years, but the curiosity of knowing the truth surpasses everything.
Luckily, there are qualified professionals for this type of search, private detectives, who due to long years of experience always have search alternatives in cases of unknown whereabouts. The indication of adoption in the birth certificate can be a good starting point to discover the whole truth, although a thorough and detailed search is necessary to end these stories with a happy ending as if it were a fairy tale.
Nobody look for his mother because they already have one, the adoptive mother, the mother of heart. They look only for their origin, their real identity.

Catalonia, the mother of dragons
The streets are bathed with the smell of roses and books. The couples walk happily, she with a rose in her hand and he with a book just received. They are enjoying the most romantic tradition of the year, the Sant Jordi dyad. With a strong popular character, mixing romanticism and culture, this festival combines the commemoration of the day of lovers and the day of the book. This is April 23 throughout Catalonia.
Sant Jordi, patron saint of lovers in Catalan lands, has joined the celebration of World Book Day, promoted since 1995 by UNESCO. Its central elements are love and culture, represented respectively by the book and by the rose. The stalls selling books and roses are crowded in the main points of the cities, where people try to approach to fulfill the tradition.
April 23, unfortunately, it is characterized by
deaths of emblematic characters, who are still remembered today. Beginning with
the gentleman Jordi, the saint who has refused to persecute Christians and who
soon has become an urban legend, and ending with famous writers like Miguel de
Cervantes and Shakespeare, who also have seen his life end on this fateful day
in April.
Possibly due to the nefarious theme that surrounds this day, the most outstanding stories in the book market, with a remarkable sales success, are the books about murders, police investigations and crimes. People are still attracted to police plots and thrillers.
The legend of Sant Jordi, known to all Catalans, is in itself a story of suspense, where a dragon frightened the inhabitants of a small Catalan city. To calm this dragon full of hunger, the population has decided to give him one person a day chosen by lot. One day, bad luck came to the princess. However, Sant Jordi, a beautiful gentleman, tried to rescue her. With his sword pierced the dragon and from the blood was born a rosebush of red roses. Sant Jordi, plucked one of the roses and gave it to the princess.
This legendary fable has served as inspiration for one of the most impressive works of Gaudí, visited annually by thousands of tourists in Barcelona, the Casa Batlló. The facade and some of the interior spaces portray this story through images. On the roof it is possible to visualize the scaly back of the dragon crossed by the sword of Sant Jordi. On the top floor is the balcony of the princess, represented by a flower. Finally, the lower balconies and columns have skulls and bone shapes embodying all the dragon's victims.
As it is possible to verify, April 23 represents a day of great importance for the Catalan people, who in addition to celebrating love and culture, keep alive the tradition of Sant Jordi, its patron.
However, if you are in a relationship and it is not all rosy, do not forget that there are professionals who can help you find the origin of the truth.
